A drastic car-explosion took place at Senthur village in Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu on Saturday, leaving about twenty people dead and several injured.
Media reports exposed that the car blasted killing nearly 20 people, most of them onlookers. The ferocious accident happened on National Highway between Chennai and Coimbatore. The blast was so strong that no trace of the car remained following the explosion.
Though bystanders declared that more than twenty people took their last breath in the explosion, yet police verified a much lower figure. The injured ones were rushed to nearby hospitals but the serious victims are likely to be taken to Chennai or Pondicherry.
The conflicting reports, regarding the nature of explosions the car was carrying, said that either it was carrying RDX or it was laden with gelatin sticks. Security has been intensified across the state instantly post- explosion.
The DGP and senior officials as well as forensic experts have left for the site of the explosion and further investigations in the case are on. The police are still looking for the culprits and their motive behind such horrendous act.
