
India has put its shoulder to the wheel in order to launch its first ever nuclear submarine. Scheduled to be up by later this year, this submarine will put the country in an extremely exclusive club, if it smashes a hit.
The venture, named the Advanced Technology Vessel, has been moving at a snail’s pace since the 1970s.
India has surmounted the major problem or compactness of a nuclear power plant to be built up on a submarine hull, as per the reports.
According to the grapevine, Russia is supporting the mini nuclear plant that has been tested and authenticated at Kalpakkam.
The vessel will be introduced in Vishakapatnam and sea trials for this submarine are lined up to start by 2010, and are anticipated to be absolutely outfitted by 2012. It can remain submerged for upto 100 days and will have a squad of 70 people as it is equipped with guided missiles.
